The Ritz Carlton, Perth
Stunning addition to Perth waterfront
The centrepiece of Perth’s prestigious Elizabeth Quay precinct, The Towers and Ritz Carlton development includes a six-star 205-room hotel, as well as 379 residential apartments.
Developed by Far East Consortium, the project was built by Australian construction company Probuild, along with several other contractors and sub-contractors.
One key supplier, USG Boral supplied all the project’s internal wall and ceiling systems and chose Fletcher Insulation to supply the accompanying fire-rated acoustic wall and ceiling insulation products.
Available in a range of densities and R-values, Pink® Partition delivers exceptional acoustic performance. As such, it is ideal for use in hotel and residential developments, such as this, where the need to limit sound transfer through both internal and external walls is paramount.
More importantly, the rigidity of Pink® Partition insulation ensures the product will not slump within the cavity. Slumping of insulation creates voids which in turn diminish a building systems overall thermal and acoustic performance.
On top of that, its thermal insulation properties not only keep the buildings warm in winter and cool in summer, but also ensure energy efficiency targets are met.
“USG Boral has a strategic relationship with Fletcher Insulation. Their insulation products are incorporated into our wall and ceiling systems catalogue, as well as our plasterboard systems guide,” said Rob.
“The relationship is a natural extension. They don’t make plasterboard and we don’t make insulation, but together we are able to provide a complete system for fire rated and acoustic walls and ceilings.”
The Towers and Ritz Carlton development incorporates innovative design features like its unique curved glass forms. These allow the towers to withstand higher wind pressures whilst also offering a lot to the aesthetics of the Perth skyline.
“Managing the logistics behind the supply of insulation on such a unique build was one of our main challenges. To solve it, we had to be in continual communication with their local commercial team.
That relationship was critical to making sure we were all on thesame page and, as a result, we got through it without creating any major delays for the contractor.”
Rob highlighted the efforts of the Fletcher Insulation team from State Manager – WA through to the key account manager in working to the success of The Towers and Ritz Carlton project.
“Every project presents a new set of design and logistical challenges, we know that we’re all pulling together in the same direction. That’s uncommon with suppliers. They haven’t put a foot wrong,” concluded Rob.
Located between Barrack Street and William Street, right on the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay was conceived as a project to reconnect the Perth CBD with the river. Apart from The Towers and Ritz Carlton development, the precinct also boasts a lot of open space and public attractions.
Fletcher Insulation is proud to have played a part in this latest addition to the city’s heart.
